Homework Homework is used to reinforce the skills that your child is being taught in class. Homework will be assigned most nights, Monday through Thursday. Homework should take no more than twenty minutes to complete, plus 30 minutes of reading. If your student is continuously spending more than an hour of actual working time on homework, please let me know. Accommodations can be made. The assignments for the day will be listed on the board. Students are expected to copy the assignments into their agenda planners, and bring home all the necessary books and papers needed to complete the assignments. Please check in with your child after homework has been completed and sign his/her agenda daily. Reading records are due each Friday. I do not post daily homework on the website, but I do have spelling words, state/capital study sheets, reading logs, etc. available to you. Also, check the calendar for test and project dates.

Special assignments and projects Current Events One per trimester Use kid-friendly websites for articles (DOGO news) Kids write a summary, then present to the class. Poetry 5th grade State Report and State/Capital Quizzes 4th grade California Brochure Accelerated Reader Program 5-7 quizzes per trimester

Grading Report cards are completed once per trimester. At the end of the first trimester, we will hold parent/teacher conferences with each family. Grading will be based on timely completion of assignments, quality of work, and the student's ability to work at his/ her ability level. This year the students will be given letter grades. We will be using a standard grading scale. ●  A =90-100% ●  B=80–89% ●  C=70–79% ●  D=60--69% ●  F=50--0 % Grades will be posted online on Power School. Please note that not every assignment your child completes receives a grade. Some assignments are considered practice and are tracked for completion only. Homework will receive 2 points to keep in line with the middle school. Projects, quizzes and tests will vary in points.
