Simplifying expressions When multiplying pronumerals, remember that order is not important. 3 × 6 = 6 × 3 6 × w = w × 6 a × b = b × a Also keep in mind that the multiplication sign (×) is usually left out: 3 × g × h = 3gh 2 × x2 × y = 2x2y Although order is not important, the pronumerals in each term are usually written in alphabetical order. 2 × b2 × a × c = 2ab2c.
