Apollo 11 at 50: Looking Back to Move Forward July 20, 2019, Lunar and Planetary Institute Over 500 attended the free public event, celebrating Apollo and looking to future lunar exploration. The event featured Hands-on activities, (portable) planetarium shows, lunar VR tours, and lunar meteorite touch samples Lunar and Planetary Institute Library Open House Scientist presentations (also streamed live via Ustream) Dr. David Kring, LPI – Future Lunar Exploration Dr. Danielle Wyrick, SwRI – Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter Dr. Walter Kiefer, LPI – Apollo 11 Evaluation 70% of attendees reported learning more about the Moon 63% of attendees reported the event supported their family’s learning 56% of attendees reported their experience was unique A young explorer tours the Moon in VR. Visitors model Moon phases using Oreo cookies.
