How Do I Get a PE? 1) Earn a four-year degree in engineering from an accredited program (Purdue!) 2) Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam Complete four years of engineering experience under a licensed PE • This requirement varies by state • Make sure you will be working under a license PE at your prospective employer 4) Complete application to take the Principles and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam 5) Pass the PE Exam 2) Pass the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam

Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam Governing body is NCEES (National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying) Pay $225 exam fee to NCEES Can be taken year-round at Schleman Hall or any NCEES-approved Pearson VUE test center in the country Reciprocal in all states and territories Pass/Fail exam
