Organisational Structure Group Overview Dis-Chem Pharmacies Ltd, headed up by founding CEO Ivan Saltzman, is a retail pharmacy group that listed on the JSE in November 2016. The Group has 149 stores and 280 clinics, as at financial year-end, February 2019, across Southern Africa. Dis-Chem is predominantly a South African retailer with a limited presence in Namibia and Botswana. Dis-Chem launched The Local Choice (TLC) brand of smaller community pharmacies, growing a presence in communities to which Dis-Chem previously did not have access. The Group acquired CJ Distribution in 2016, combining operations with Dis-Chem wholesale, to fulfil distribution capabilities. Dis-Chem Pharmacies is a leading distributor of pharmaceutical, personal care and household products in South Africa. Organisational Structure Trading Brands and Formats Dis-Chem trading brands and formats include the traditional “big box” pharmacies, smaller convenience pharmacies and Dis- Chem branded TLC pharmacies, of which Dis-Chem is the major stakeholder. Long-term plans include changing the existing Dis-Chem convenience stores to Dis-Chem TLC stores. TLC pharmacy franchise group which includes 91 pharmacies, is in partnership with Dis-Chem.
