Jack Mulvaney Discovery Specialist-DRMS CORAL Uses Outside IRM Jack Mulvaney Discovery Specialist-DRMS Introduction, who am I and what do I do? Which systems am I administering?

CORAL is an Electronic Resource Management System that IRM uses to track payments, licensing, and electronic access. VERY quick explanation of CORAL and the restoration project. What do we use it for: in-between for Aleph, Access Systems, Emails/Vendor relationships, with an automated workflow aspect

Most of the current CORAL users are actually outside IRM... But! Most of the current CORAL users are actually outside IRM... There are 36 CORAL users, 25 of which are non-IRM library staff!

You may be asking this question, and I’m here to answer you! So what can they do? You may be asking this question, and I’m here to answer you!

ISA Staff ISA staff assisting with issues with databases and access systems can use CORAL to look into why things are the way they are. Research Services students are now the front line and receive many questions that are actually related to access. Some information in CORAL can help them quickly resolve access issues, like whether something is in a specific access system or if there is a user limit

Research Services/SEL... CORAL shows changes in URLs, pricing, licensing, access points, cataloging information and more! Liaisons can also contribute back to IRM by giving us insight on how patrons use resources. Selector/Liaisons can be better informed during renewals in the winter and late summer with three years worth of payment data from Aleph as well as information on where the content is searchable and any specific issues that IRM staff may have documented

And You! Do you want to know about: User or Author rights? Perpetual Access or Licensing terms? Background information about how eResources work? Licensing information can be long and dry, but it can also let you know if patrons can datamine or authors can publish in institutional repositories, notes from IRM staff on weird quirks can help explain why you can’t access something through Mozilla
