why does truth matter? God is truth Psalm 31:5 Into your hands I commit my spirit; redeem me, O LORD, the God of truth. 3

God detests lies Proverbs 6:16-19 There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil, a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers. 5

What can be done about it? Be true to your word Psalm 15:4 LORD, who may dwell in your sanctuary? Who may live on your holy hill? He… who speaks the truth from his heart and has no slander on his tongue…who keeps his oath even when it hurts 23

What can be done about it? seek forgiveness 1 John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness. 26
