Quick Graphs Using Intercepts Chapter 4 Section 3

Finding The X-Intercept X-Intercept: the point where the line crosses the x-axis To find the x-intercept: (x,0) Plug in y=0 and solve for x

Find the Y-Intercept Y-Intercept: the point where the line crosses the y-axis To find the y-intercept: (0,y) Plug in x=0 and solve for y

Examples: Find intercepts 1. 2.

Find the intecepts y = 3x – 5 y = -2x + 1

Making a Graph from the Intercepts Steps: Find x and y intercepts Write the intercepts as a point. X-int (x,0) Y-int (0,y) Graph the two points Draw a line through the two points

Example: 1. X-Intercept Y-Intercept
