Presentation transcript:

Out of Chaos Comes Possibility. Random Poetry! Out of Chaos Comes Possibility.

Basic Steps -Create poem collage with pictures and randomly placed words. -Punctuate randomly placed words on collage, making some sense of them, treating them like real statements.

-Choose interesting phrases from the randomly placed words to use as raw material for your crafted poem. -Play with the phrases to start creating a sort of sensible poem. Remember, this does not have to be entirely sensible. It can be confusing, mysterious, dreamlike, but you do want to come out at the end with a poem that says something.

-Create your poem with repetition, parallel structure, motifs—this creates focus and meaning, even if just emotional. -Use the images and metaphors that the random text gave you to create your own images and metaphors, similes, symbols, etc.

-Craft a poem of your making -Craft a poem of your making. -Let a theme or idea or emotion develop as you play with the words. -It should be dreamlike and mysterious. -Once you are done, you will discuss your process, the poetic devices you used, and the meaning of your poem.
