Someone who was able to read and write. Scribe Definition Example A scribe learned cuneiform and was highly respected by people in Mesopotamia. Someone who was able to read and write.

Laborer Example Definition Person who does physical work and was at the bottom of the social hierarchy in Mesopotamia Construction workers, farmers and shepherds were considered laborers.

Polytheistic Example Definition Belief in more than one god. Mesopotamians were polytheistic people who believed gods sent them good or bad things.

Ziggurat Example Definition Temple built for a god in Mesopotamia. Located in the middle of the city-state Mesopotamians built ziggurats to honor their gods with a shrine at the top.
