Presentation transcript:

A coordinated and concentrated celebration of week-long activities hosted by partner agencies to promote awareness of transportation choices and safety. What is Mobility Week? Inspiration: European Mobility Week Why is this important to FDOT? Advance and raise public awareness of the objectives of the Florida Transportation Plan Why is it better this way? Brings together existing efforts under collective theme - results in maximizing resources, increasing effectiveness, and fostering regional collaboration Mobility Week is…. It was inspired by the annual European Mobility Week (Sept 16 – 22 – International car free day) where the EU acts as an umbrella organization providing the platform for cities and towns within the EU to host events that promote active transportation. It was modified to leverage resources readily available to partners in the state instead of placing a burden on them. The concerted effort brings visibility to what we are all trying to do which is to alleviate congestion by promoting transportation choices that replace the single occupancy vehicle for all trips and promoting safe transportation practices

Mobility Week Goals & Objectives Goal 1: To promote transportation mode choices by encouraging behavioral change from single occupancy driving to sustainable modes of transportation and commit as a region to advance a culture of safety and multimodalism. Goal 2: To work cooperatively with partner agencies to adopt policies that promote sustainable mobility and implement a system of complete streets that promotes safe active transportation and supports livable communities. Mobility Week Goals & Objectives
