Interaction & innovation PROJECT: Behavioral Health Basics PARTNERS: Highline College, Valley Cities Behavioral Health, Industry Employers AUDIENCE: Incumbent healthcare workers, students in Healthcare Professions programs, college staff SCOPE: Behavioral Health Subject Matter Expert created and facilitated a 10-week, 5 credit curriculum designed to prepare health care workers for behavioral health integration. This hybrid course featured modules on mental illness, de- escalation, trauma-informed care, culturally responsive service provision, and substance use disorder. The curriculum is now available to the public.

PROJECT: Mental Health First Aid PARTNERS: Highline College, King County BHRD, Valley Cities Behavioral Health AUDIENCE: Highline College faculty and staff, students, incumbent healthcare workers, general public SCOPE: Mental Health First Aid courses are offered on campus regularly. Faculty have been certified to facilitate the training in both English and Spanish. This is a required element of some Healthcare Professionals courses.

PROJECT: Career & Tuition Assistance PARTNERS: Renton Technical College, King County Library System AUDIENCE: Current and prospective students, job- seekers SCOPE: Representatives from Renton Technical College table at public library branches to share information about Career Training programs and tuition assistance. College staff and library Social Worker provide individualized consultation and referrals.

PROJECT: Crisis Response Training PARTNERS: Highline College, Whatcom College, Union, Taft-Hartley Training Fund, Catholic Community Services, Valley Medical Center, Subject Matter Expert, WA state AUDIENCE: Medical and mental health providers SCOPE: Highline faculty and Subject Matter Expert provided Crisis Response training to hospital and clinic staff across two counties. Training was supported by state grant funding.

PROJECT: Healthcare Exploration for Youth (HEY) PARTNERS: Highline College, Work Source, Workforce Development Council of South King County, Non-Governmental Organizations, grant funders, Community Health Clinics, school district AUDIENCE: Individuals ages 16-24 yrs. who have barriers to accessing higher education SCOPE: During this summer program, participants are introduced to basic clinical skills, engage in career exploration, job shadow healthcare professionals, and learn from guest speakers.

PROJECT: Chemical Dependency/Substance Use Disorder Fast Track PARTNERS: Behavioral Health Organizations, Community Health Clinics, Community Colleges, state legislature AUDIENCE: Masters level mental health providers who wish to become dually credentialed SCOPE: Colleges throughout Washington state offer a flexible, accelerated 15 credit path to earning a CDP credential for those who already possess a mental health credential. Courses are offered in-person and online. Some employers cover the cost of tuition as an employee benefit.
