Big Idea Through the filling of the Holy Spirit we are able to have unity in our marriages, families, and workplaces.

1. Through the filling of the Holy Spirit we are able to have unity.

Being Filled with the Holy Spirit 4. We submit to one another (v.21).

Submission: To place yourself under someone in order to lift them up.

2. Through the filling of the Holy Spirit we are able to have unity in our marriages.

Submission means: organizing voluntarily to fill out a pattern that constitutes a complete whole. The word "support" is a good synonym for the biblical concept of "submit." A wife submits to her husband when she voluntarily "organizes" herself so she can complete her husband. (Ex. Three-legged race.)

There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28 NIV

The husband should fulfill his marital duty to his wife, and likewise the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body but yields it to her husband. In the same way, the husband does not have authority over his own body but yields it to his wife. 1 Corinthians 7:3–4 NIV

APPLICATION Parents lovingly raise your children in the teaching of Christ. Make him the center of everything you do.

4. Through the filling of the Holy Spirit we are able to have unity in our workplaces.

APPLICATION EMPLOYEES: Work as if you are working for the Lord. Even if you do not have a good boss.
