What makes me marvellous? Reception Term 1 project map Personal, Social and Emotional We’ll be making new friend and celebrating our existing friendships. We’ll be saying goodbye to our adults and learning about our new school. We’ll be sharing our resources and learning where to find things. We’ll be helping each other on the days we find school tricky. Maths We’ll be counting 1:1 up to 10 and 20. We’ll be lining objects up to make them easier to count, and we’ll learn how to use a number line. We’ll be crossing objects off to count them. We’ll go on shape hunts and talk about the properties of 2D shapes. Physical We’ll be taking our shoes and socks off to go into the hall. We’ll be finding a space and moving in a variety of ways. We’ll be learning how to use equipment safely around the school. We’ll be using a variety of writing materials and practising our names. We’ll be using the toilets and keeping ourselves healthy by washing our hands and eating fruit at snack time. What makes me marvellous? Reception Term 1 project map Understanding the World We’ll be talking about what happens at our house and who we have in our family. We’ll explore our environment and ask lots of questions about it. We’ll be using iPads, Beebots and laptops to enhance our learning. Communication & Language We’ll be talking about what we like and dislike. We’ll be telling each other about our families and who lives in our house. We’ll be bringing a favourite teddy to school to show our friends. We’ll be listening carefully, putting our hands up and answering and asking questions. We’ll talk about our day and discover our favourite parts of school. Expressive Art and Design We’ll be experimenting with colour and texture by using a variety of resources. We’ll be using playdough to mould and junk modelling to build. We’ll listen to music and dance depending on how it makes us feel. We’ll use the role play every day. Literacy We’ll be writing with a variety of materials. We will learn about rhyming and we’ll listen for the initial sounds in words. We’ll segment and blend words with our voices then we’ll learn our first set of sounds. We’ll be reading Elmer and The Bear Hunt as well as many other favourite stories. We will practise forming patterns and letters correctly.
