THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE John 8:31-36

THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE “The truth will make you free” means there is a release from those things that hold us in bondage. Truth frees men’s souls from 4 things: 1. The law of sin and death. 2. From fear. 3. From ignorance. 4. From anarchy.

FREEDOM FROM SIN AND DEATH THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE FREEDOM FROM SIN AND DEATH Jesus said that everyone who commits sin is a slave to sin (Jn. 8:34). The apostle Paul spoke of this control in the Roman letter (Rom. 6:12-14). The blood of Christ releases us from the rule or grip of sin (Rev. 1:5). We have been created anew in Christ Jesus to do good works (Eph. 2:10).

THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE FREEDOM FROM FEAR Faith helps us to overcome our fear. Faith comes from hearing the truth (Rom. 10:17; Jn. 14:1,27; Phil. 4:7). We are told in the Scriptures to fear God, and keep His commandments (1Jn. 4:18; Eccl. 12:13).

FREEDOM FROM IGNORANCE THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE FREEDOM FROM IGNORANCE The only thing truth has to fear is ignorance. There are many things, of which, I do NOT want to be ignorant: 1. How to pray (Lk. 11:1-4). 2. How to treat other people (Mt. 5:38-44). 3. The way to eternal life (Jn. 6:68). Truth is absolute and eternal (Rom. 1: 23).

THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE FREEDOM FROM ANARCHY When men do what seems right in their own eyes there is no freedom to be enjoyed (Jud. 17:6). Truth becomes not only a means of freedom from tyranny, sin, death, fear and ignorance but a safe house of principles to live by that will enhance life and help us become better people (Rom. 6:22,23).

THE TRUTH SHALL MAKE YOU FREE The truth sets us free: 1. From the tyranny of sin and death. 2. From paralyzing fear. 3. From ignorance. 4. From godless anarchy. Obedience to the truth (God’s Son and Word) will set one free to truly live.
