Communication Individuals Who will you text/call when you are at home? At work? Do you have a paper list of family and emergency contact information? Families Do you have a family communication plan? Alaska contacts and out of state contacts Paper list of family phone numbers Providers Does the facility have an emergency communications plan? Cell charger with you, small flash light Out of state contact-everyone calls them Cash in small bills To Go kit in car, gas tank filled Important papers ID, bank information, legal papers, insurance Keep in a Go Kit in Vehicle Crank radio, family plan on paper Medications, home insurance info, medical cards Cash-small bills-in case credit cards not working Personal and emergency contact numbers on paper Water and food for 72 hours First Aid Kit, Flashlight Sleeping bag, warm clothing, Toiletries Cell phone, charger, laptop, Pen, paper Keep in a Go Kit at home Have alternate heat source and generator Have shoes, warm clothing, purse/wallet and flashlight by bed Decide on a meeting place outside of the house Know how to shut off natural gas and water to house Have a Help/OK sign Completed Family Emergency Plan sheet in house Secure heavy objects to wall (water heater, appliances, pictures, etc.) Food and water for 4-7 days-port wrecked

Before: “Facility Kit” Food, water, toilet, radio, flashlight, batteries, dust masks, duct tape, first aid kit, etc.

During the Earthquake During Remind everyone to “Duck and Cover” Remind everyone to not to leave facility Immediately After Designate a leader: checking to make sure everyone is okay Turn off the gas and water Do not light matches/smoke Only call 911 for medical emergency What do you need before you leave the building? Do you have a flashlight near by if the power goes out?

After: Shelter In Place Place Help/OK sign in window or on door Do you have an alternate heat source? Generator? Trauma: strong emotions, confusion, unexpected behaviors, excitement Emergency Kit: Enough food, water, medications, medical supplies How will you know what is going on? How will you communicate with others? Group home staff: Do you have enough staff? How will get relieve staff you? What if someone uses an oxygen generator? Has medications that require refrigeration? Emergency Kit: food, water, medications, medical supplies. How much extra do you have? What if event goes 7 days? Trauma-can be higher for individuals who have IDD, dementia, mental illness, blindness, deaf, etc. Back up battery for cell phone? Immediately after-if you have needs let EOC know Post event-File with state/FEMA for assistance

After: Evacuate What is your alternate site A and site B? How do you plan to transport everyone? Bring Durable Medical Equipment, communication devices Bring needed supplies (depends, medications, clothing, records) Track the location of residents and on-duty staff Shelters-How do I find one? Do staff need to stay? Does your alternate site know you are coming? Is someone else planning to use same van for transportation?
