H&S campaign No. 5 “Falls from vehicles”

Why are we running a campaign? Because of the high numbers and frequency of injuries attributed to: Falls from vehicles Falls from items of mobile plant Slips, trips and falls on the beds of trailers

The dangers of incorrect access / egress

Highways injury stats (HE database for injuries recorded between Apr-12 and Jan-15) A total of 40 injuries, or varying severity, recorded were categorised as follows: 65% – Stepping from vehicle / plant onto the ground or floor surface (26no) 15% – Accessing or exiting the cone well of TM vehicles (6no) 13% – Slips & trips on debris on the beds of trailers (5no) 8% – Other (3no)

Highways injury stats (HE database for injuries recorded between Apr-12 and Jan-15) Timings (24 hour clock) for the 40 injuries: 53% – Nightshift (21no) 35% – Dayshift (14no) 13% – Unknown, times not entered on database (5no)
