Tribe Time

Introducing: Tribe Time Tribe Time classes will now be once a week every Thursday mornings from 9:00 to 9:30 a.m. with your Tribe Time Teacher During Tribe Time you will receive support in: TAPS Character Strong Grade Checks/Presentations The Tribe Time Coordinator is Mrs. Ross

TAPS Requirements: TAPS website Interview

Professional Introduction “About Me” Slides presentation is where you get to tell the interviewers about yourself. It is to be done in Google Slides and must contain 9 slides total 1 Cover slide 7 themed slides (family, interests, achievements, hobbies, goals, etc.) 1 Career pathway slide with an overview of your career plans Expected to be polished and visibly appealing

Resume and Cover Letter The resume must have an objective! For Example; Objective: To obtain a position as a bagger at SaveMart Supermarkets at the Chowchilla location. Put any and all experience that you have Some community service may count as experience Do not put where you went to junior high. Add your three references to the bottom of your resume The cover letter is basically a professional letter to the manager or supervisor of the company (yes, you will need to ask the name of the manager when you pick up your job app) explaining a little bit about yourself and telling him/her why you would be the best candidate for the job.

Community Service/Tribe Points You will need to do at least 60 hours of community service completed while a student at CUHS Community Service Hours are now pre-approved and logged on Aeries through the “Service Learning Portal”. If it is not on the pre-approved list, you can add it and wait for approval. After you’ve finished your service, log your hours in the portal and upload the completed Community Service Forms into the Service learning portal and your TAPS website.

Tribe Points = Began August 2018 Twenty Tribe Points can be earned and used in lieu of 20 hours of community service. Individual Tribe Points must be scanned via 5 Star when you attend an event. 5 Point Tribe Points are logged into the Aeries Service Learning Portal. Tribe Points = Began August 2018

Tribe Points Participation in CUHS Sport, Club or Class with ongoing extracurricular activities outside of class: Examples: JV Boys Basketball, Tech Club, Yearbook, FFA, Link Crew, Class of 2022 5 Tribe Points are earned for a minimum of 70% attendance per year of participation 2 Additional Tribe Points are earned if you are an officer with at least 70% attendance per year

More about Tribe Points 1 Tribe Point is earned for attendance at a CUHS Athletic event (except football games) verified via the 5 Star scan or staff initial 1 Tribe Point is earned for participation or attendance at a school-sponsored (other than Clubs or Sports) Activity that: takes place outside of school hours is for a club, class or activity that you have not already earned Tribe Points for is not required is not being used for community service Examples: Float-building, Powder Puff, attending evening Talent Show, attending dance, attending tennis match, attending CUHS Band/Choir Concert

Tribe Points All 1 point Tribe Points must be recorded on your “CUHS Information and Tribe Points Sheet” You will need to add all 5 Point and 2 Point Tribe Points to the Aeries Service Learning Portal Optional: You can choose to do the 60 hours of community service instead. Tribe Points are optional.

Attendance Profile and Unofficial Transcripts These items will be accessible to you in the spring of your senior year. Affidavit and Senior Contract The Affidavit needs to be signed and scanned into your TAPS website. The Senior Contract will be accessible to you in September of your senior year and simply need to be signed by you and your parents or guardians.

Letter of Recommendation You will need ONE Letter of recommendation Can be from coaches, supervisors, teachers, other school staff, etc. Community Service/Participation Journal The Community Service/Participation Journal will be a two page written assignment (instead of 3 one-page journals) You will write it in English 11 if you are taking that class or can write it at any time.

Interview Process You will be interviewed by one staff member and one community member. The completed TAPS website is due for seniors on March 5th, 2020 There are TWO interview dates: March 19, 2020 and April 23, 2020 Failure to interview on the given dates will make you automatically ineligible for ALL SENIOR ACTIVITIES in May Yes, this includes Grad Nite. Yes, even if you pay for it. Yes, it is in the senior contract. There will be ONE makeup day for interviews that will be set by administration If you interview on this day, you still may participate in the commencement ceremony, but will still be ineligible for ALL SENIOR ACTIVITIES

The “Why” Behind Tribe Time: We believe in you and we want to make sure that you are on track to apply to and prepare for college, trade schools, the Military, jobs, training programs, or other avenues you desire after high school. We care about you and want to make sure that you are on track to graduate from high school with a polished resume, website and soft skills. We want you to have skills for the future such as being confident and prepared during an interview. We know that community service may open doors to your future. We care about your character: You deserve to be the best person you can be.
