Presentation transcript:

Be sure to turn in internet access form! Algebra 1 Bring to every class: Pencil Clean paper Notebook/ Binder TI-84 Calculator Homework policy: Homework is due when class begins. Incomplete or late homework will receive a zero. Late homework is not accepted. If you receive four zeros for homework during a quarter, you will receive a call home. If you are absent it is your responsibility to check for missing homework assignment. Objectives: Build a strong foundation of that will be used in future math courses. Build logic, critical thinking, and problem solving skills. Gain an understanding and appreciation for math as it describes the world around us. Work collaboratively and cooperatively with individuals in the room. Hall Passes Four passes are given each quarter. Extra credit will be rewarded to those who do not use hallway passes. Follow the 10/10 rule. You cannot leave the first 10 or last 10 minutes of class. Have your agenda everyday as it acts as a hall pass. Without it you cannot leave the classroom. Test and Quizzes Pop quizzes are given weekly to assess learning after a topic is covered. More cumulative tests and quizzes will be announced to give ample study time. Be sure to turn in internet access form! Not being able to access materials online during class will impact your grade. These tests and quizzes are your greatest opportunity to raise your grades! Technology We will be using Google Classroom for individualized online help, assignments, and more. Tardies Being late to class is not acceptable. Disciplinary action will be taken on the first offense. No exceptions without a teacher note. Notebook/Binder Your spiral notebook will be used to keep all of your notes and handouts in one place (making a helpful study tool!). This notebook will checked periodically for a grade. Be sure to keep it up-to-date. Have a question? E-mail me! carolyn.gates@anderson.kyschools.us

Absent Work and Make-Up Work Policy How to be Successful: Excused absences: Per the OSCS handbook, students have three days to turn in assignments and make up missed quizzes and tests. On the third day, items not made up will be given a grade of zero. Make-up work will be posted in the classroom. Always check in to see what you missed. It is your responsibility to get these materials yourself. Unexcused absences: Graded assignments will be given a grade of zero. You must turn in an absence note to the front office to have it excused. Only after it is changed on infinite campus will it be changed in the gradebook. Late work: The math department does not accept late work. Work must be completed on time. Behavior Expectations: Follow the 5 B’s: Be prompt, prepared, positive, productive, and polite. Respect everyone and everything within the classroom. Act ethically. Cheating of any kind will result in zeros. You get out of every class period what you put into it. Do your best to come in with a good attitude and together we will have great year in math! How to be Successful:   Ask for help Work Together Take Detailed Notes Use Time Wisely Devices and Cell Phones: Cell phones are not allowed in student possession during class and will be placed in a safe location. Chargers and headphones are not allowed out during class. A participation grade will be given weekly for meeting this expectation. Failure to comply can impact grade and result in referrals. Check Infinite Campus Get your password from the office and check often! This is the best way to stay informed. Additional Supports: Tutoring/ESS is offered once a week. I am willing to stay after school as needed if notified ahead of time.
