Western Orbital

Officer Recommendations: November 2017 Western Orbital on hold pending Highways England decision on Road Investment Strategy Officers will be recommending that the bus priority at J13 be removed from the Western Orbital project and that it be included as part of the business case development for the Cambourne to Cambridge scheme Officers will not be recommending further assessment of a Park & Cycle at J12 Officers will be seeking authority from the GCP Executive Board to develop a full business case for a new P&R site immediately to the north west of J11 of the M11 including new access arrangements for general traffic and priority for buses using the facility. www.gccitydeal.co.uk

Park & Ride Summary Existing Site New Site Expansion   Existing Site New Site Expansion Decking or Underground. Ground Level. Cost £50-97M. £8M. Access Utilising existing Park and Ride access. Access to new site provided directly off A10. Operation Expansion of an existing site would largely operate as existing. Dedicated bus infrastructure would be required to connect the new site to connections east of the M11. Network The network is likely to be severely congested in 2031; dedicated Park and Ride access options would facilitate usage of the Park and Ride site in the AM peak. Egress from the site in the PM peak is a potential constraint. The network is likely to be severely congested in 2031; dedicated Park and Ride access to existing site required for users of Trumpington Park and Ride; access options required to optimise network operation. Planning Partially within greenbelt. Wholly within greenbelt. Environmental Screening for full Environmental Assessment required. www.gccitydeal.co.uk
