Overview Learning will be focused on Pre-Algebra and Geometry topics Curriculum: Go Math Math Binder is student’s “textbook” All objectives will be aligned with the Common Core State Standards for Math

Objectives Main concepts covered: Ratios and Proportional Reasoning Solve and find ratios, proportions, slope, percents, tips, taxes, discounts, graphing The Number System Solve problems involving all 4 operations with fractions, decimals, integers Convert between decimals, percents, and fractions Expressions and Equations Solving one and two-step expressions, equations, and inequalities Geometry Measuring, classifying, and drawing angles and triangles, finding the missing measures of triangles and angles Finding the circumference and area of circles Finding the area, volume, and surface area of prisms, pyramids, and composite figures Statistics and Probability Random samples and populations Analyzing and comparing data Experimental probability Theoretical probability and simulations

Homework Students will be assigned homework daily Homework will mostly be assigned on worksheets in the student’s math binder Homework worksheets are also available online if needed Homework will be updated weekly on my Class Website Homework will usually be collected as completion points in the gradebook If your student ever needs help please encourage them to ask me

Grading Students will keep track of their own homework grades each module in their Math Binder Students will be given their grades weekly in their planner on either Monday or Tuesday Grades will be updated weekly on Skyward Points will be earned through: Tests, Quizzes, Homework, Quick Checks, Projects, In-Class Assignments, and Participation Grades will be weighted in the Gradebook to start preparing students for High School Assessments (Quick Checks, Quizzes, Test) = 60% of grade Assignments (Homework, Projects, Participation) = 40% of grade

Strategic Math Grades are given just like a core class Grades will be give for: classwork, participation, completing worksheets Class focus: fact fluency, operations, fractions, decimals, integers, multi-digit numbers, and reinforce concepts taught in math class Class structure: similar to a workshop model Students will be in groups of 2-3 students doing something different each day Stations include: white boards, homework time, computer practice, computation worksheets, stations/games, and small group instruction with me
