At Royal LePage, we know that a house is only truly a home if the people who live there feel safe and loved. For the thousands of women and children who experience violence and abuse under their own roof, we make it possible for them to have safety, hope and help to rebuild their lives.

Why we help

How shelters use our donations Beyond just a safe place to stay, shelters and shelter workers provide a range of services, resources and supports that allow women to grow and thrive as survivors. Therapeutic counseling for women and children Training and job placement Help for legal, health and housing issues Support for children and youth Shelter renovations and new construction Helping women and children move out of the shelter and live independently

Thanks to our amazing Machu Picchu trekkers and their supporters, an incredible $500,000 was raised!

Other highlights from 2015 National Garage Sale for Shelter: More than $250,000 raised taking us to over $2.25 million! Over $55,000 raised at the National Leadership Conference and at Headstart Highest number of donors ever! 100% of the funds we raise help women, children and teens live free from violence.

Things to watch for in 2016 Federal government to launch inquiry into missing and murdered Indigenous women and girls Commitment to developing a national action plan on gender-based violence -- Promise of “legislation that will provide greater support for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault” in Throne speech Continuing the conversation about consent and sexual-based violence – Jian Ghomeshi goes to court in February; Bill Cosby’s criminal case More training on domestic violence within professional sports and in the workplace
