Because Scotland Cares Programme of events and activities September- December 2019 (Draft – dates to be confirmed/programme changes may occur)

1. Workforce planning– what is it? A brief discussion with a workforce planning expert giving us her views and explanations of workforce planning, what it is and how it can be used Nicola Hattie- OCSWA, Scottish Government September- 30 minute podcast - Listen anytime podcast after launch date - First of a series of WFP podcasts 2. Workshop– single joint website entry point for people interested in voluntary sector jobs Follow the survey activity of members and based on the information provided a collaborative, expert led workshop Ross McCulloch- 3rd Sector Lab October- 1 day workshop - Outcome an agreed sector website platform brief which can be commissioned for building 3. Logo competition winner announced and formal launch of social media   Agreeing the winner of the competition to create our logo Formally launching our social media platforms with a brief talk on social media use Chris Wallace, Guest sponsor, social media masterclass and BSC Steering Committee October -2 hours lunch session - Celebrate the logo, gather publicity together and learn how we can all use the shared @Scotland_Cares accounts to best effect 4. Because Scotland Cares meeting A members’ meeting to look at progress, actions, workplan and discuss issues Because Scotland Cares steering committee leads the meeting- all members or those considering joining the group are welcome 1.30-3.30pm November 12th Participate and keep up to date in the work and direction of the group Meet peers, get support, information share and get updates 5. Remote and rural- recruitment: what can we do about it? A facilitated and focussed discussion to identify possible solutions to remote and rural recruitment issues Facilitated by Patrick McKay (TPS- Director of Operations) 12-1.30pm November 12th - Outcome an action plan to take forward possible solutions identified 6. Commercial marketing workshop– tricks of the trade External professional marketer sharing ideas, tricks and concepts with us TBC November - Half day workshop - Outcome more effective recruitment marketing by member organisations 7. Workshop– references and applications forms– a proposal for change The working group’s proposal for change is discussed and the need for change explored with partners to ensure that we reduce unnecessary barriers, welcome in the under- represented and meet requirements in a highly competitive, fast moving environment with limited labour force Liz MacKay- Carr Gomm (leading this work) Care Inspectorate & SSSC Princes Trust (young people) Skills Development Scotland Scottish Care (independent providers) COSLA (local authorities) December- Half day workshop - Produce an in principal agreement to go forward that meets the needs of regulators and care providers whilst keeping people safe and is pragmatic and responsive to our recruitment challenges 8.
