Caribbean Region Oceanscape Project (CROP) Issues: The small island countries of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS) have traditionally encountered serious development challenges, coupled with low growth, natural disasters, high debt, and limited fiscal space to maneuver around these problems. The OECS marine and coastal assets offer an unprecedented opportunity for strengthening the region’s economy and closing the gap on poverty and unemployment rates. Project Development Objective (PDO): To strengthen capacity for ocean governance and coastal and marine geospatial planning in OECS countries. Components: Strengthening Ocean Governance through preparation of coastal and marine spatial plans (CMSP) and national ocean policies; and enhancing the regional policy framework. Strengthening Knowledge and Capacity through online access to OECS relevant educational and awareness tools and materials; and Improved OECS ocean data coverage Building Partnerships Timeframe: October 18, 2017 - December 31, 2021 Budget: USD 6.3 Million
