Presentation transcript:

English Religious Education Maths Character Curriculum Daily Mile STEM We start the term by finishing off our non-fiction writing based on the book ‘Lost & Found’. By the end of the learning journey we will have written a non-chronological report about an interesting animal. Our second book this half term is a story called “Fatou Fetch the Water”. The children will be adapting the original story to create their own version. We will be looking at using a variety of punctuation within our stories and using interesting adjectives and conjunctions to improve our sentence further. Religious Education This half term we continue to compare Christianity to the Jewish Faith. Our big question is “What is the Shabbat and why is it important to Jews?” We will be thinking about special days in our own lives and how this is different for Jews. Maths We start by learning about positional language and turning objects, a whole, half and quarter turn. We then move onto to place value to 100, where we will consolidate our understanding of partitioning, comparing and ordering numbers and using a 100 grid to aid our counting. At the end of the term we will be looking at using the language needed to talk about money and time as well as drawing hands to show time on a clock and adding small amounts of money. Character Curriculum This half term we will be thinking about controlling our feelings, saying thank you and being honest. Year 1 Summer 2 Big Question: How do we look after our world? Fantastic finish: Plants growing investigation. Looking & measuring how our plants have grown. Library and Homework will be on Tuesdays. Daily Mile The daily mile continues to happen 3 times a week. STEM In Science we will be looking at plants. We will be learning to identify many common plants and trees within our local surroundings and further a field. We will be labeling the key features of a plant and tree and thinking about what they provide for us. Topic This half term we will be looking at how to take care of our world. We will be naming and locating the 7 continents and 5 oceans in the world and then move onto looking at plastic pollution, food waste and how far our food travels to get here. We will be producing sea art, inspired by J.M.W Turner and using recycled materials to create a collaged creatures for our seascape. P.E Our outdoor PE focus this half term cricket, where we will learning about, batting, fielding and pitching. In Real PE we will be looking at Health & Fitness. We will be looking at why exercise is important for our body and how our body feels after exercise. Earhart PE will be Tuesday and Friday. Dahl PE will be Wednesday and Friday. As much as possible PE will be outside.
