Library reserves Faculty can place DVDs or books on reserve in the library for 2 hour or 24 hour use, or provide links to streaming videos or online books. If you need a text, ask your professor if this is possible for your class.
Search for a full text journal Type in the journal’s name or ISSN. Social Work is an important journal for social workers for example.

Fulltext for Social Work The Social Work journal is indexed in 8 Marian databases, beginning in 1956 for the Criminal Justice Abstracts. None have fulltext for the last 12 months so request those from interlibrary loan or check if they are free (open source.)

Social Work Abstracts Social Work Abstracts offers extensive coverage of more than 450 social work and human services journals dating back to 1965. Produced by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW), the database provides citations and abstracts dealing with all aspects of the social work field, including theory and practice, areas of service and social issues and problems Click on the link for Social Work Abstracts to proceed to the search screen.
Social Work Abstracts Example Search: Enter keywords in the boxes at the top of the search screen. In the drop down menu next to the search box, select an option of where the database will look for the keywords. The ‘All Text’ option will search everywhere for the keywords.

Recommended Databases PsycARTICLES & PsycINFO are provided by the American Psychological Association. Contains more than 2 million citations and summaries of scholarly journal articles, book chapters, books, and dissertations, all in psychology and related disciplines. Includes peer-reviewed articles. CINAHL (Cumulative Index to Nursing and Allied Health) contains articles from the nursing literature including scholarly journals including some in the related field of social work Academic Search Complete covers the all academic subject areas and includes news articles, articles from professional journals, and scholar, peer reviewed research articles. Criminal Justice Abstracts covers many social work journals if they relate to criminal justice. PsychiatryOnline incudes the DSM and articles and books in psychiatry
