Simple or Continuous? Sometimes there is little or no difference between the Present Perfect Simple and Continuous. How long have you taken these English classes? How long have you been taking these English classes?

BUT... The Present Perfect Simple looks at the completed action. So if the sentence gives a number or a quantity the Continuous is not used. Ex. I’ve managed a lot of projects in these months. I’ve written three reports about my research.

And … Stative Verbs -that express a state-, for example, like, love, know, have for possession, ARE NOT FOUND in the Present Perfect Continuous. I’ve known my colleague Hannah for ten years now. I’ve had this laptop since last December.
