Presentation transcript:

Monday 5 July Morning: Continued with the Physics fill, 7b x 7b, 1e11/bunch Stable beams from 2:30 am to 13:30 : 11 hours

Monday 5 July Observations: 2 intensity drops on beam 1, one just after the collapsing of the separation bumps and before correcting the orbit, the second one, just before starting IP1 optimisation; no RF noise observed at that time Rest of the fill was rock stable Modification to FESA class to monitor the frequency word received by the FGCs (subscription) - Philippe Baudrenghien - Frederic Dubouchet

Monday 5 July Mirko Pojer

Monday 5 July BPM temperature drift of c.o. crates: large orbit deviation (500 um) affecting ½ sectors

Monday 5 July Performed wire scans before dumping, noticing losses at the level of 84-87% on both beams. B1H 4.3 B1V 6.1 - B2H 4.9 B2V 5.0 Was at 1.5 TeV : B1H 2.9 B1V 2.7 - B2H: 3.2 B2V : 3.8

Monday 5 July Afternoon: 15:00 – 16:00 : SPS transformer failure 15:30 - 18:00 : S78 tripped (one noisy QPS board on main bend + pre-cycle of S78) - Threshold on B8L8 was increased to 600 uV – Access needed to fix prb. 18:00 - Refilling for physics with new injection scheme -Werner Herr- (10bx10b –, Single_10b_4_2_4 pattern, no more parasitic encounters) - blown up SPS beam through miss-steered PS-SPS injection to 3.5 um. Tails which got caught in the bottom TL and LHC injection regions -> triggered the unmaskable BLM - blown up SPS beam with screens -> ~ O.K.

Monday 5 to Tuesday 6 July Night : 10bx10b in the machine, about ~7.4e11 /beam, - B1H 2.9 - B1V 3.2 - B2H 3.2 B2V 5.6 23:00 – 03:00 : Stable beams No spurious beam losses observed. (except during chromaticity measurements: RF trims of 20 Hz not taken -stayed at 50 Hz. Continue with manual measurements No more orbit reading, restarted the process OFSULHC_M of the machine cs-ccr-ofsu. The beam was dumped by the orbit SIS -> mask orbit SIS next time …

Monday 5 to Tuesday 6 July Night :

Today 8:00 – 16:00 : Transfer line and injection studies - Brennan Goddard + team in parallel: WS fixing: Bernd Dehning BPMS gains and the High/low sensitivity switching – Rhodri Jones+ Lars Jensen+Kajetan Fuchsberger 16:00 : Overnight: Physics fill
