About Dynamics 365 License Types Team member licenses are entitled to tiered pricing on cloud. Custom entities: Microsoft Dynamics 365 team members and higher licenses have the right to use custom entities. IMPORTANT: team member licensing in Dynamics 365 on premises functionality will differ from Cloud. On premises team members will only be able to view sales or customer service data. Cloud team members can edit. These users will not have any access to the operations app. Team members Full Users Users producing reports or doing data entry tasks. Roles that require a full license and data visibility. Typical roles Sales, customer service, marketers.

Team Member Licensing Dynamics 365 Enterprise Edition Light users Read / write: cloud Read only: on premises Cloud team members: write time and expense records, accounts, contacts, activities, tasks and notes, user created reporting and custom entities. Team members receive full Dynamics 365 access via any interface. Run workflows and on demand processes. Read all Dynamics 365 data across all apps and have full data visibility to Dynamics 365. Perform full knowledge management and respond to Azure services.

Dynamics 365 Enterprise licenses Apps and Plans overview NOTES: no minimum user numbers.. However, 20 users maximum for operations app (formerly AX) AND minimums may apply for not for profits or academic customers. APPS are role based. i.e. you can get a full sales app, marketing or financial app. This allows a user to use just that function. PLANS allow customers to have a single license to fit their needs. If more than one app is required a plan is a cheaper approach. Plans unavailable on premises unless using dual user rights.
