Where is the Indus River Valley? Current day India and Pakistan Surrounded by mountains, ocean, ffffffffff and desert Tropical climate Located west of the Ganges River

Background 3000 B.C.-1300 B.C. Stretched from Himalaya Mountains to Arabian Sea Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro were major cities Evidence of over a thousand settlements in the area

Social Organization Efficiently planned cities Organized government Religion and political power were connected Males were the dominant figures Life was centered around family Harappan economy was based on farming

Religion Polytheistic- made up of Hinduism, Buddhism and Jainism Seals show animals which resemble the Gods, Shiva and Rudra Worshipped a Father God- may have been the forefather of the race Mother Goddess- Symbolizing fertility
