Previous Week - Effort

User Research

UR – Methodology Uncovering the Mental Model Think-Aloud

Uncovering the Mental Model From a user perspective, it is specially important to understand the main screen of the application since all of the tasks have this same starting point. User was prompted to detail every element, top to bottom, left to right. User was questioned if he/she was sure or was just guessing.

Think-Aloud Nine tasks were given to the users, each for specific features of our application Testing team was composed of two elements: One element prompted the user whichever he felt the need to. One element took notes of the interaction. The main goal was to understand the way users think when using our application in order to address and improve design issues.

UR – Demographics

UR – Tasks Say out loud how far away you are from your next goal in km’s. Say out loud which month of the year you had more activity. Say out loud which activity was practiced on Monday. Add the device “Apple Watch” to your devices.

UR – Tasks Remove the device “Xiami Mi1” from your devices. Synchronize the device “Xiami Mi2” with your App. Say out loud which discount was achieved until now. .Share, using the application, your achievement on Facebook. Log out your account from the App.

UR – Results (Tasks) The synchronize, share and logout task were done without any problem. The tasks related with the Activities had some problems, but it was completed by most users. The goals and discounts tasks were considered the hardest ones, and weren’t completed by most of the users.

Design Implications

Design Implications It was not clear for the users the time interval for calories, kilometers and steps on the main screen. We’ll move the timeframe to a more central location, making it more easy to see. Users understood the swipe left/right as a way of switching between energy and distance and not as a way to show the Activities. We’ll change the unit of the goal by clicking on the goal graphic.

Design Implications Users can’t define which part of the goal’s graphic represent the part completed and still missing based on the actual colors. We’ll choose the red as already completed and grey as the missing part. On the graph of the daily/monthly activities, the units were missing We’ll define the number of calories or kms according to the unit selected on the main menu graphic.

Design Implications Users can’t identify the goals already achieved. We’ll remove the Share tab and replace it with the Goals info and list. We’ll also display directly the discount achieved in the Profile menu replacing the Steps info with it.

Project Planning

Next week Design and Development team will be the main actors Design team will adapt the current designs based on user feedback Development team will finish the prototype User Research will be in support of these two teams

Thank you.
