Questions & Answers From Friday, August 7, 2009

Can we have free days to do what we want? There may be free days throughout the semester depending on our class schedule and the school calendar. During free days you will still be required to be physically active during class.

Will we really have to dance? No

What is your favorite extreme sport? I enjoy either watching or participating in most sports, so I don’t really have a favorite extreme or traditional sport.

Are we going to play football? Yes. Either two-hand touch, flag, or both.

Is this like Health and Fitness? No.

Do we have a mile test? If so, what days? We may have a mile test sometime throughout the semester, but I will give you plenty of time to prepare for it if we do.

How old are you? 32

How much do we run? We will try to be involved in some type of running daily.

How much teaching experience do you have? I have been teaching for nine or ten years.

How do we get a grade? You will be graded on whether or not you dress out and participate, assessments (written and physical), your portfolio, and your written final.

What position did you play in college? I played linebacker in football, and outfield in baseball.

Is the class easy? This class will be easy if you actively participate and turn in your assignments.

Can we play basketball everyday? We will not play basketball everyday, but we will play.

What sports did you play in high school? I participated in football, basketball, wrestling, soccer, baseball, and track & field.

Why do we do class work if this is PE? Time spent in the classroom will be minimal. There are certain state requirements (standards) that have to be met throughout the course. The majority of the class will be spent doing physical activities.

Are you coaching baseball again this year? I am not coaching baseball this year. The only sport I am coaching is wrestling. I will be attending NGCSU this year to work on my EdS in Educational Leadership.

Do we have tests in here? Yes, there will be tests. We will have both written and skills tests.

What written assignments do we have in here? You will be writing daily/weekly reflections throughout the semester and keeping up with a fitness log/journal.

How is this going to help me? You will have a better understanding of the sports we are involved in. We will learn a little history, some rules of the game, strategies/tactics, and a variety of fundamental skills. Most importantly, you will be actively engaged in physical activity which will increase your overall health and fitness levels.

What is rugby and pickleball? Rugby is a form of football played with an oval ball. Pickleball is a sport similar to badminton and tennis. It involves playing on a court with the same dimensions as a badminton court with a hard paddle and perforated, plastic ball.
