Textbook Textbooks are online – All students will be logging into textbooks this week Additional instructions are on my website in case a student forgets how to access the textbook Textbooks are used for: Readings Labs Activities

Earth and Space Science Main Topics This Year…. Dynamic Earth Systems Earthquakes Plate tectonics/layers of the earth Rock cycle Volcanoes Weather and Climate Warm and cold fronts Storm formation Weather forecasting Climate change Space Science Seasons Moon phases Tides Eclipses Scale of the universe

Grading in science Only 4 categories of grades: Notebook: 5% Summative: 85% Shows progress towards learning standards Tests, engineering projects, scientific explanations etc. Assignments: 5% Daily classwork Homework Quiz: 5% These are done online for practice Notebook: 5%

Summative graded using a rubric and a 4 point scale.

Example learning target for Earth’s Dynamic Systems

Assignments – graded on a 3 point scale. 3 – complete Assignments – graded on a 3 point scale 3 – complete 1 – incomplete – marked missing 0 – absent – marked missing

What to do if your child is sick… 1. Check my website Calendar 2. I will try to post copies of major assignments but I will always have a copy available in class 3.
