In 1933, Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany In 1933, Adolf Hitler was appointed Chancellor of Germany. Shortly thereafter, the Holocaust begins. When the killing stopped, over 11 million people were dead, six million of which were Jewish.

NAZI CONTROL 1933 The Nazis take control of Germany in January.

DACHAU OPENS 1933 The first concentration camp opens in March.

Jews were systematically sent to these camps. CONCENTRATION CAMPS Jews were systematically sent to these camps.
