3 Adviser Roles Academic Adviser Student Support Adviser Employability Adviser

Academic Adviser Links to the Academic Advising Framework and new AA Policy. Sits within a local 'model of academic advising'. Key Remit: Academic Progression: monitoring academic performance and providing academic advice Personal Development: providing a personal point of contact and regular contact throughout their studies. Professional Development: providing academic advice on professional development including further study.

Developments During 2019/20 "Leave with More"

No. of Comments Related to AA NSS Comments Year No. of Comments Related to AA Positive Negative Single Improvement 2018 13 2019 137 79 41 17 No group academic adviser meeting throughout second year, even though we were scheduled for 2 but academic adviser cancelled both. Negative Example Could not have asked for a better academic adviser. Student Support services and the careers service are brilliant and give students the maximum support while studying and maximum opportunity to progress in the future. Positive Example Having a regular academic adviser to contact. Improvement Example

Student Support Adviser Supporting prearrival, welcome week and extended induction activities. Preventative welfare interventions supported by data profiling. Promoting self sufficiency and autonomy Pastoral support and advice Coordination and oversight of specialist support pathways Escalation route to support students with complex needs who may need cause for concern Supporting Academic performance and retention in a proactive approach. Working as part of the Student Support Triangle to provide holistic support.

Access to service The new Hallam help service will make it easier for students to access high quality support via new Hallam Help Points and a range of other channels. If academic colleagues have a student that requires pastoral help and support, colleagues can: Direct the student to access self service via MyHallam, this allows access to 'how to' information and offers options to contact Hallam Help and request further information or support including support from Student Support Advisers Direct the student to email or phone Hallam Help. If emailing to the student, colleagues can copy in the Hallam Help email address and this will allow the team to review the details of the enquiry and book any necessary follow up with the SSA as required. Direct the student to one of the helpdesks where an appointment or attendance at one of the SSA drops ins arranged.
