Holidays in Ukraine and Great Britain Created by Ruban Rostislav

Great Britain Holidays: Christmas In the UK, Christmas is a great family holiday. Catholic Christmas is known to be celebrated on December 25th. On the eve of the holiday many families decorate the Christmas tree or even two together and it is an integral Christmas tradition. Christmas trees grew popular in Britain at the time of Prince Albert, who was born in Germany. He introduced his way to celebrate Christmas in England. Also, for the decorating of houses traditionally use acne, ivy and mistletoe. Cities and villages are decorated with garlands during Christmas. The most famous Christmas lights in Britain are on Oxford Street in London. Thousands of people come to see how they light somewhere in early November.

Ukraine Holidays: Christmas The traditions and customs of Christmas in Ukraine differ significantly from those of Europe or those that we see in American films. Ancient carols, vertep and even maiden divination - this is what makes the unique traditions of Ukrainian Christmas. Christmas for most families begins with worship. Usually on the morning of January 7, families go to the church. And then sit down at the festive table. As long as the mistress covers the table, the man bypasses the house and sprinkles it with the salt that was previously consecrated in the church - to protect against evil forces. For the same reason, at the 4th corner of the table, spread the garlic teeth.

Great Britain Holidays: Halloween Halloween is a holiday celebrated annually in Britain on October 31. On this day, the British are going to merry mourners. The most popular costumes are skeletons, ghosts, witches and other scary images. Most of all this holiday is enjoyed by children, because for them it is a great opportunity to dress up in an unusual costume and with friends' friends to walk around the houses of neighbors begging for sweets and sweets.

Ukraine Holidays: Halloween In Ukraine, this holiday was not at all popular until the year 2000. For Ukrainians, Halloween is a great reason to have fun, go to a masquerade party and make an unusual makeup or dress up in a suit in which you can walk around the city because it will not be understood on a regular day. More and more often known restaurants and clubs arrange Halloween-party, whose guests are ordinary Ukrainians and celebrities. During such events competitions for the best suit and makeup are held. It was also fashionable to arrange home Halloween parties, during which it was decided to watch horror movies and tell terrible horror stories. Every year, this evening on the streets of Kiev you can meet the overgrown youth, which in this form goes to thematic parties or just walking around the capital.

Great Britain Holidays: Easter Easter in Great Britain - one of the most important religious holidays in the year. The holiday is full of traditions, folk customs, famous for traditional dishes. It is difficult to imagine, but Easter traditions in the UK originate from times that are much ahead of Christianity. Some theologians even believe that the word "Easter" in English comes from the Anglo-Saxon goddess of spring and dawn ( 'Eostre'). There is no clear date for Easter in the UK (this is the same for both the church calendar of Catholics and the Orthodox). Easter is celebrated by the British on the first Sunday after the first full moon, following the first day of spring in the northern hemisphere. The holiday of Easter is not only the holiday of the coming of the spring, but also the end of the Great Lent. Friday before Easter Sunday and Monday after it - weekends.

Ukraine Holidays: Easter Mankind has celebrated this day for thousands of years. So there were many ways of honoring the Risen Christ, which were formed in tradition and customs. Rich on them and the Carpathian land. The main feature of the local Easter is the Easter egg, which in its symbolism combines antiquity with the pre-Christian times, our present and faith in eternity. Therefore, preparing during the Great Lent for a worthy meeting of Easter, the Hutsuls wrote Easter eggs throughout the whole of the fourteenth (even on holidays). At the same time, highlanders embroider towels and napkins, which subsequently cover Easter baskets. Passionate Mistress bake special bread - Easter - in memory of Christ's words: "I am the Bread of Life." These whiskers are the largest decoration and mainstay of the Easter table.

Great Britain Holidays: St. Valentine's Day In England, St. Valentine's Day was celebrated beginning around the 17th century. There were times when, on February 14, the British gave gifts to each other secretly, and a couple selected themselves according to the lot. By the end of the 17th century, paper valentines became popular. Sometimes they were made of colored paper and signed with multicolored ink. Sometimes pierced with pins like a lace, and stained using a stencil. Oddly enough, prudish Englishmen believe in divination for Valentine's Day particularly strongly. For example, unmarried girls on February 14 rise before sunrise, stand near the window and look at the passing men. According to the belief, the first man they see, and who is narrowed with whom they are destined to go under the crown in a wedding dress, is a rather unusual way to choose a fiancé. In Derbyshire (one of the counties in central England), girls go around the church at midnight from 3 to 12 times, repeating certain poems.

Ukraine Holidays: St. Valentine's Day St. Valentine's Day is celebrated on February 14th. This holiday in Europe began to celebrate a few centuries ago, he came to Ukraine more recently and became popular in the 90's. St. Valentine is considered a symbol of all lovers, so this holiday is very beautiful and romantic. It is created for those who love and those who are just preparing to know this wonderful feeling. On this day, in all cities of Ukraine, except for "valentine", it is accepted to give flowers, especially in red, as this color symbolizes love and passion. You can also give your chosen variety sweets, kissing pigeons and kupidonchikov. It is on this holiday that you can not be afraid to confess in their most secret love affections. A very good tradition on this day was to make a sentence of hand and heart. There is also a belief that everyone who has got on this day should have a long and happy marital life. As for statistics, those who wish to combine their life with marriage bonds on this day increases three times in comparison with other days.
