What can I do to help my child succeed in this course? Keep tract of gradebook Communicate with the student and find out where they are struggling in class and why certain assignments have not been turned in. Under each assignment on gradebook the name of the task underlines the topic it belongs with. Review homework and notes of that topic with students in class. Reach out to me with concerns & questions. Follow up with the students often to ensure they are on track.

Class and Supplemental Materials Students are expected to bring: Pencil/ Red Pen / Highlighter 3 ring Folder with textbook pages of current chapter Previous class notes Any supplemental material Class Fees will be paid online – Not yet set up for 2019-2020 school year http://www.onlinerene.com/fees/search.aspx Students are to use the textbook set (2 books total) of : 6th: Middle School Math Solution Course 1 by Carnegie Learning Students are expected to watch any supplemental videos that are posted on my Doral Homework page. These supplemental videos will assist students with the lesson learned in class.

Students are given a pacing guide at the beginning of school year showing all deadlines for the first quarter (mid-October). (*Must be given notice during the school week.)

Student Expectations Students are to come prepared and ready to learn. That means having all materials and having completed any homework that was assigned. After 3 verbal warnings and a call home student will receive a detention for not improving or modifying his/her behavior. Electronic devices are not allowed in class. (It will be confiscated and sent to the main office per school policy). Eating and Drinking are not allowed in my classroom unless a student has a valid medical reason that has been cleared by the office (i.e. a diabetic student). Bathroom passes are for emergencies only- instruction does not stop while student has left for the bathroom. Using the restroom before and after class is encouraged. Complete their homework daily and continually studying for the course.

New Doral Academy Student ID Safety Requirement:  As part of the new school safety initiative, beginning the week of September 17 Doral Academy students are required to wear their student ID as part of their school uniform. Any student without their school ID will not be allowed to go to class.  They will be given a new ID with a $5.00 obligation fee before going to their next period.
