Reuse Leader 190 mgd beneficial reuse out of 363 mgd (FDEP 2018) 2,240 mgd reuse out of 32 billion gpd (USEPA) In fact, we have been incredibly successful in beneficially reusing our treated wastewater. Florida reuses 34 percent of its wastewater compared to the national average of about 7 percent. Southwest District, reusing 52 percent 148,000 residences 189 golf courses 426 parks 180 schools 11 power plants 6,600 acres of agriculture 39 Cooling Towers Using reclaimed water for irrigation helps save potable supplies, but it’s not the most efficient use. It’s not a one-to-one ratio. People tend to use reclaimed water more freely than they would use potable water. Using reclaimed water for purposes such as manufacturing or power production are more efficient uses. And the future of reclaimed water will lie in its conversion to a potable supply.
