China Mauritius ranked 7th in 2015 amongst the Top 10 Island destinations (World Island Tourism Development Report: 2015). Target for 2017: A projected growth of 3.5%, with an estimated tourist arrival of 82,400. We are using a 3 prong approach to China Operation for a sustainable LONG TERM solution: Air Mauritius : Direct Operation and Singapore Hub Emirates Airline Chinese Carrier

China Emirates Airline EK: A380 operation twice to five destinations daily Dubai will be an attractive option for Chinese travellers for shopping Chinese Carriers China Eastern is already code sharing with Air Mauritius and could be interested to have their own operation Work towards attracting a Chinese carrier

Scandinavia and Eastern Europe New agreement with KLM Royal Dutch Airlines As from 30 October 2017, 3 weekly flights (with 294 seats per flight) to Mauritius. KLM will operate 3 weekly flights during IATA winter and Air Mauritius will Operate 2 flights during IATA Summer. It is estimated that KLM could bring about 15,000 additional tourists as from this October till June 2018. More “beyond” Amsterdam destinations will be available . The aim is to grow the no. of flights thus tourists arrival.

India Air Services between Mauritius and India are governed by the framework of a BASA concluded in 1971 and Memoranda of Understanding signed in 2005 and 2016. The MoU will enable Air Mauritius, to code share to existing 4 destinations (Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai) as well as Hyderabad, Goa, Ahmedabad, Calcutta. The BASA and MoU provide, among other for multiple designation of airlines and up to 14 weekly frequencies. Air Mauritius has a code share agreement with Air India.

Air corridor and East Africa The Air Corridor was launched on 12th March 2016 with the objective to connect Africa to Asia. The traffic increased by 12.8% IATA 15/16 v/s IATA 16/17. Operations to Tanzania and Mozambique commence in 2016. The Mauritius – Singapore Corridor creates the right frequency to the Chinese market East Africa Operation will be served from hub Nairobi. The number of expats in Nairobi provides a market potential for Mauritius as a tourist destination. A market survey would need to be undertaken to understand the opportunities available. The KLM Operation will support traffic between Mauritius and Kenya for those who are interested in a “Bush- Beach” option. Source: Air Mauritius

Australia Source: Statistics Mauritius Australia status as top 10 market means the destination receives added attention. Air Mauritius acquires 2 A 330 Neo in 2018 which is the ideal aircraft to serve Western Australia. Hub Singapore will also provide another option to link Mauritius to Australia.
