Metro Studio Theatre Venue Visual Story

About Metro Studio Theatre Metro Studio Theatre is one of Intrepid Theatre’s permanent locations. There are shows at it year-round. It is Venue #3 of the Victoria Fringe Festival. It is located at 1411 Quadra Street (on the corner of Quadra and Johnson). It is attached to the Victoria Conservatory of Music. This is the outside of the Metro. The box office will be set up in a tent on the left of the doors.

When you arrive The box office will be outside of the building. People will line up along Quadra Street while they wait for the show. This is where the box office will be located. This is where the line will be.

The Metro Studio Theatre box office You can purchase show tickets and Fringe buttons at the box office. You need a Fringe button to get into any Fringe location, including Metro Studio Theatre. They are $6. Make sure your button is visible when you arrive! This is what the Fringe buttons look like this year.

Checking in If you have already bought your ticket and Fringe button, check in with the box office when you arrive. If you need any accommodations (such as wheelchair accessible seating or a Theatre Buddy), please check in with the Front of House manager at least 25 minutes before the show starts. This is Julia. People usually call her JJ. She is the Front of House manager at Metro Studio Theatre.

Entering the Metro This is what you will see as you enter the Metro Studio Theatre. You will be allowed into the building 15 minutes before the show starts. This space is the lobby. It’s just for passing through. The theatre is through the door straight ahead.

Entering the Metro When you enter the doors to the theatre, you will turn left. You will see this hall. It will lead you to the theatre.

Inside the theatre The chairs in the front row can be removed for wheelchair accessible seating. There are four seats reserved at every show as wheelchair accessible seating.

Inside the theatre There is an emergency exit located on the opposite side of the theatre from where you entered. This is where you entered from. It is also an emergency exit. Emergency exit

Washrooms Intrepid supports all trans and gender-variant people choosing the bathroom that feels most comfortable and safe for them at the Fringe Festival. Because some bathrooms are constructed differently, we have symbols and an explanation on the bathroom signs of what people can expect (e.g. A symbol for a stall, a urinal, accessible washroom etc.).

Washrooms The main washrooms are upstairs. From the entrance to the lobby, you will see stairs on your right.

Washrooms These are the stairs to the washrooms.

Washrooms This is what it will look like at the top of the stairs. Follow this hall to get to the washrooms.

Washrooms These are the doors to the washrooms. During Fringe, the signs will be replaced with the Creating Safer Spaces signs to designate them as all-gender.

Washrooms There is an accessible washroom on the main floor. To get there, go through the door to the left of the theatre entrance. This door

Washrooms Once you go through the door, you will be in a long hallway. It takes you past where the theatre is and backstage.

Washrooms The accessible washroom is at the end of the hall and on the left. The washroom is through the grey door.

What to expect at shows Audience members will be allowed into the venue 15 minutes before the show starts. You can choose which seat you would like to sit in. All Fringe shows start on time, and no latecomers are permitted. The only exception is at designated relaxed performances. At the end of the show, people will clap. This shows appreciation for the artist. You can also wave your hands instead of clapping. If you really enjoyed the performance and want to thank the artist, Fringe artists will often indicate if they will be around after the performance if you want to say hi or thank them.

Shows at Metro Studio Theatre Antigones GRL PWR: A Musical History of 90s Girl Group Feminism Script is available to borrow from the venue or Fringe HQ on the corner of Blanshard and Fisgard. 13 Dead Dreams of “Eugene” Has strobe effects. Script is available to borrow from the venue or Fringe HQ. Into the Tango No spoken dialogue. Nevermore Has fog or haze. The Robber Bridegroom: A Grimm Fairy Tale

Questions? If you have any questions about accessibility at Victoria Fringe, please go to the Fringe website, or contact our Accessibility and Outreach Coordinator, Navarra. You can reach Navarra by calling 250-590-0394, emailing access@intrepidtheatre.com, or by coming in-person to Fringe HQ. This is Navarra. She will be in the lobby of Fringe HQ.
