Workshop’s aim: your being.. (even more) convinced on the importance of a “strategic” preparation to Qualification Developments (a bit more) familiarised with the use of key management tools (Sector Profiles, Rationale), decided to adapt them to your own needs and use them agreeing to promote these tools and their use to colleagues and partners

. VET environement is moving very fast ! Transition economy New attitude toward Education Less public funding Demographic decline Private training companies

: Decisions are more complex to take And unfortunately, the “natural trends” seldom favour Vocational Education

. The pending risks: A “declining” VET system (less attractive, less diversified) Employers unable to find qualified workers and technicians More graduated or “half graduated” from university unemployed or in non-qualified jobs

. Case study: The French VET system 1986-2005

. Conclusion: “Natural trends” seldom favour VET But they are not a fatality! A “well diversified” VET system “can make the difference”! We just have to be (even) “smarter” and take well informed decisions

How selecting the right targets? . When modernising our VET provision… How selecting the right targets?

Are we really filling the most relevant gaps?
