Essay Feedback Everyone showed strong knowledge of their subject matter. This was evident throughout each essay and made for some very amazing reads! The majority of those not happy with their mark will need to improve on their structure. Either this would be through following the 5 paragraph essay structure or through the use of a conclusion sentence linking the paragraph to the main idea. As a class this is a strong place to start our learning. The class has shown that we can do great things, and now its time to stretch our work to improve!

Activity 1: Read pages 30-31 What is the main idea of this selection? What connections did you make while reading? text-text? text-self? text-world? How might this article be different if it were told by the people who owned the carpet factory?

Activity 2 Do you think Iqbal would have been netter off staying in the carpet factory for the rest of his life? What speculation do you make about Iqbal’s life, if he had lived to go on to law school? What might he have accomplished? In 1995, at the age of 12, Craig Kielburger (Canadian! and founder of Free the children) , was inspired by Iqbal’s story to begin his work as a global citizen. What action does Iqbal’s story inspire you to take on global issues?

Activity 3 Create a cover page for ELA. Include all topics covered thus far. Make is colourful and unique. Include some pictures!
