Aligning Engagement! Bloom’s Taxonomy! Creating - can the student create a new product or point of view? Evaluating - can the student justify a stand or decision? Analyzing - can the student distinguish between the different parts? Applying - can the student use the information in a new way? Understanding - can the student explain ideas or concepts? Remembering - can the student recall or remember information? Bloom’s Taxonomy!

Establish contract methods and hours. Provide directions often and in various ways. Provide effective and timely feedback. Chunk your content. Send reminders to keep students on track. Use a variety of multimedia and modalities.

Start with personal greeting to each student as they sign on with two-way communication (mic and chat). Keep reminding students to turn on an off their mics rather than chatting.

The “RIGHT” Leading Questions… Provide an introductory question Push/pull responses from all participants.  Open & closed questions as needed to manage engagement!  Use the comments to steer or modify my agenda.

Managing Engagement Provide only short bursts of content information in lecture format. Ask questions - to assess understanding and promote engagement. Constantly remind student to turn on/off the mic when responding to a questions. Call upon students to keep organized. Repeat student questions/comments as needed. Be sure to read and respond to chat responses. Use writeboard, polling, response activities, etc. Share your screen!
