Marquette Branch Prison (MBP) Opened in 1889

Marquette Branch Prison (MBP) Levels I and V Current population of roughly 800 (down from 1100 in years prior). Intake center for new commitments and parole violators from the Upper Peninsula county jails.

Marquette Branch Prison (MBP) Available Services Outpatient Mental Health Including SSOPT and a “interim care program” for transition of the mentally ill from Segregation to General Population. Dental Therapeutic Diets Infirmary Care

Lakeland Correctional Facility (LCF) In 1871 a State Public School which provided temporary support/instructions for dependent and neglected children. The facility became the only home in Michigan admitting both normal & handicapped children. In 1935 became the Michigan Children’s Village-which only admitted children with mild mental impairments.
