Discussion Questions What are additional examples of opportunities SIUE faculty have for business and community engagement? What is needed for further university, business, and community engagement? What can be done for further increasing SIUE’s regional impact? The Company Progressive Recovery, Inc. (PRI) is a 30 year old Dupo based company which specializes in the designing and manufacturing of capital equipment that helps their customers recycle and/or process hazardous waste. One of their three business units called PRIBIO, provides customized biowaste systems that are sold into high containment laboratories for universities, hospitals, and pharmaceutical (biologics and vaccines) companies. PRI created a growth plan that included expanding into the international market with their solvent recovery equipment. To support this growth, they determined that gaining ISO certification would be significantly helpful in marketing their products internationally. In July of 2014, after nearly 18 months of preparation, PRI gained ISO certification. Part of the preparation process included hiring an outside expert to come in and help provide training and coaching to their team to help get them up to speed on the ISO standard and how it is to be implemented. The result of this training and coaching was a very successful ISO registration audit. The effort supported by the financial assistance and general advice provided by the ITC/DCEO network was critical to the success of the registration effort. Since gaining ISO registration, they have begun to include the official mark in all their proposals and sales literature. While they can not count specifically the added sales at this point, the registration will be significantly helpful. 12/16/2019
