The Role of a High School Counselor At the very MINIMUM, counselors at the high school level are responsible for ensuring that every student takes the classes required for high school graduation. We also offer parent/teacher consultation, brief individual student counseling (academic and personal/social), classroom guidance, college planning support, and collaboration with educational stakeholders to work for the benefit of each and every student in our school.

Requesting a Meeting with the Counselor Our goal is to be ACCESSIBLE to our students and their families. Students can request to meet with their counselor by visiting the counseling suite or requesting a meeting on-line https://www.forsyth.k12.ga.us/site/Default.aspx?PageID= 21791 The counselor will meet with the student at his or her earliest convenience. If the student has an URGENT NEED that must be addressed ASAP, let the counseling secretary know. Please allow 24 hours for the counselor to return your voicemail or email.

Scheduling and Course Selection Process The course selection process for the 2020-2021 school year will take place during Spring 2020 Starting in January, teachers in core subject areas will make recommendations for the following year Students may waive into another level class with an approved class waiver form. Choose wisely !!! Students select their electives and alternate choices via Parent Portal at home Don’t panic!
