Let’s do a quick DRP Passage.

Let’s review your textbook work.

Monday: Midterm Exam Make sure you are familiar with the instructions on the review sheet. Bring a blue book, LWC book, 1 page of notes I will not have exam graded by Wednesday. You are free to check Engrade or your email.

We are going to talk about common ways writers organize information. There are signposts in your readings, that, if you find them, will help you remember information more easily. These are TRANSITION words that will help you determine the way the writer organizes information.

With your group, please create a map of the article. Identify the main idea. Identify the transition words that are used to signal a new idea. Major Details Minor Details

Let’s peer edit your summaries. Before we do that, let’s review a few issues that came up in the summaries.

What’s wrong with this sentence? In the article rabies by Robert Berkow discusses different things about rabies. In the article “Rabies” by Robert Berkow, HE provides general information about rabies. The article “Rabies” by Robert Berkow provides information about rabies.

What’s wrong with this sentence? First, Berkow explains that symptoms commonly start with a short period of mental depression, restlessness, a sick feeling, and a fever. Restlessness increases to uncontrollable excitement, and the person produces a lot of saliva. PARAPHRASE: Berkow explains that a person with rabies show symptoms that begin with mental depression, fever, and restlessness. This restlessness becomes uncontrollable excitement, which leads to the production of a lot of saliva.

Make sure your writer use the right verb.
