Objective 1: Achievement & Learning Plans 2,113 OSY (74% of identified) received services. Of 856 OSY, 670 (78.3%) demonstrated a 20% gain on post-assessments of Life Skills Lessons. Of 568 OSY with Student Learning Plans, 433 (76.2%) met half or more of their learning or achievement objectives. 195 (75%) of the 259 OSY participating successfully completed the Goal Setting mastery activity. The primary goal of the consortium is to reach OSY with vital academic services to allow them to achieve a high school diploma, a GED/HSED, and even post-secondary opportunities. Through the use of the OSY Student Profile, we have determined that many of these students have significant obstacles including health, living situations, and other advocacy needs. The consortium has created multiple life skills lessons to address some basic needs (like going to the doctor, using a calendar, understanding budgets, etc.). These lessons include important vocabulary and count as academic services, while meeting additional needs in the student’s life. New in Year 3 were the creation of life skills lessons on the subject of mental health. More about that later. GOSOSY also has dozens of academic lessons that address reading and math skills and are written to be age- and grade-level appropriate. Our materials are all designed to help our student build their academic skills and progression toward that diploma or certificate. www.osymigrant.org

Objective 2: Professional Development 170 PD training sessions were delivered to 2,188 participants. All 18 GOSOSY Member States reported five or more collaborations. States provided 105 ID&R training sessions to 1,503 recruiters (duplicated count), with 90% of the recruiters meeting proficiency standards on state recruiter assessments. We realize that many of the service providers throughout the various states represented in GOSOSY are not licensed teachers with classroom experience. Our goal is to offer substantial and meaningful professional development on a variety of important skills.. More on that in a minute as well. Note that another very important emphasis is finding ways to collaborate well with other local organizations that can help us help our students. GOSOSY states are wonderful at reaching out and building these connections so that we are all working together better all the time on behalf of OSY. www.osymigrant.org

Objective 3: State Processes All 18 states used five or more GOSOSY products. The products used by three-quarters or more of the states include the OSY Student Learning Plan, the Goal Setting materials, and the IRRC ID&R Competency Skill Assessment. A total of 250 participants from 35 states attended the 2018 Consortium Incentive Grant (CIG) Dissemination Event held September 18-20, 2018 in Clearwater, FL. Of course a large part of our job is collecting data and compiling statistical reports about how all of these materials and resources are actually benefiting the OSY across the consortium. Our states understand clearly what is expected and do a great job of reporting to us annually what products they are using, how well they are working, and what we can do to continue to improve. www.osymigrant.org

GOSOSY ACEs Resources www.osymigrant.org Our interest on ACEs in the migrant student population and the value of trauma-informed supports for this special demographic have opened so many doors for us. I strongly encourage you check out the Literature Review on the topic of ACEs and the accompanying chapter slides that vividly illustrate the role ACEs plays in the live of OSY. Our five mental health lessons were created to start the conversation. Topics include general mental health, alcoholism, anxiety, depression and stress. The results of introducing these lessons to those in the field have been overwhelming. Year 4 is including even more emphasis on this topic with significant new resources for our practitioners and an upcoming Training of Trainers singularly focused on how we can support these students and connect them with appropriate referrals to meet their mental health needs. www.osymigrant.org

GOSOSY Mental Health Lessons One of the exciting additions to our mental health life skills lessons are the audio enhancements. This means students can listen to the lessons in English or Spanish and save them to their own device for future reference. We have audio enhancements for several of GOSOSY’s resources and find them valuable and popular with the students. The Professional Development Work Group has been prolifically creating videos, PPTs, print outs and other materials to help ensure that each practitioner is as fully equipped as possible to do the job – found on the website – modules on Creating an Instructional Action Plan, Using Strategies for Different Learning Styles, and Using Strategies for Both One-on-One and Group Instruction. More work continues on additional modules for Year 4. www.osymigrant.org
