Supporting students and teachers in the effective use of Instructional Technology 3 Year Site Tech Plan 2017-2018

Current Device Status

} Device totals - current 719 Total Device Totals: 120 Macbook Pro 423 iPads 6 Interactive TVs (coming soon) 2 Juno Sounds 101 PCs (Engineering, Library, classrooms) 14 iMacs (2011 Models in Fashion/Design) 53 Apple TVs 2 Older Smart Boards } 719 Total (543 Wireless)

Use of wireless devices - current Use of Laptop and iPad Carts - the majority of carts have been pushed out into buildings in an effort to increase student use. The checkout process is still handled through the library; teachers agree to stay flexible and release carts as needed. Examples: Band Room: piloting sight reading on the iPad during Jazz Band, converting sheet music, etc. Math Building: iPad cart available for the department to check out, laptop cart for computer science Room 611: Mr. Morris uses iPads + Nearpod, Google, Office 365, and other apps, piloting curriculum EL: Our EL department has a dedicated iPad cart Blended Learning (2): English/History have a laptop cart and Health/Math have an iPad cart IB: IB students have dedicated iPads for titles, scientific probes, etc. English/Yearbook: utilize the MacBook Pros for classwork and production work

Use of wired devices - current Use of Wired Devices - Wired devices are older PCs primarily used in the Library and Engineering. Examples: Engineering: 32 PCs used for 3D design in Solidworks, modeling, 3D printing, etc. Library: 50 PCs used for web-based research, papers, etc. READ 180: 13 PCs used for the READ 180 program

Devices – big picture After 3 years TCHS will be close to a 1:3 ratio, allowing each classroom to be stocked with 2 MacBook Pros and 6 iPads to fill in the gaps of student devices. Device acquisition will continue to be a priority so TCHS can move towards a 1:1 ratio.

Professional Development - current Focus: Information & Communication, Foundational Skills Examples of Completed Whole-Staff Professional Development: Office 365 Training •Teams - how to communicate with your classes/students using Teams (all Freshmen trained too) •Outlook - reply vs. reply all, groups, pinning messages, marking read/unread, etc. •One Drive - file storage, creating folders, sharing files, “shared with me” •Forms - how to create surveys and share / collect results Infinite Campus •Student use of the IC app, what it looks like on the student-side (all Freshmen trained too) •Grade book - how to enable online student submission through the grade book •Viewing dropped students to find grades •Navigating attendance, seating charts, and other student information

Professional development - current Focus: Information & Communication, Foundational Skills Examples of Completed Whole-Staff Professional Development: (cont’d): How to Screen Capture and Create Tutorials •Using QuickTime to screen record a tutorial •Using QuickTime to edit a recorded tutorial •Sharing a recorded tutorial through OneDrive Apple TV •Basic functions of Apple TV, connecting devices including non-Apple devices •On screen codes and access •Student use of Apple TV, i.e. presentations, CCSS aligned topics Tech Time (Titan TV) •Short video tutorials demonstrating the student-use of Office 365 apps and IC •Google Search options

Professional development - current Focus: Information & Communication, Foundational Skills Examples of Tech Coaches (6) Professional Development for Staff: Examples: •Release time for coaches to train teachers •Formative, real-time assessments and data collection •Presentation apps •Remind, Class Dojo •Google Docs, Office 365, IC, animated tutorials for each •Use of Apple TV •Mass email parents/students •Find 504’s / IEP’s in IC •Creation of PLC teams in Outlook for English and an AP PLC •Design and moderate websites for IB and HMCA, including social media integration
