Countries’ Percentage of Total CO2 Usage (metric tons) This map displays the CO2 usage, in metric tons, for every country over a twenty-five year span. Grey countries indicated one of the following: a country chooses not to release its CO2 emissions or does not produce a significant amount of CO2. Low High

Countries’ Percentage of Total CO2 Usage (metric tons) The colors correspond to natural breaks, displaying “warmer” colors for countries that produce higher CO2 emissions and “cooler” colors for countries that produce lower CO2 emissions. Low High

United States Fossil Fuel Power Plant Density The following map displays the power plant spread of United States relative to the rest of country. It is notable that areas along the coast have the most fossil fuel power plants because they are within a closer proximity to sources of natural gas/coal/etc. Low High

China Fossil Fuel Power Plant Density On the other hand, China’s fossil fuel power plant density is more consistent throughout the entire country. Although CO2 emissions consist of more than fossil fuel power plants, they made up a large portion of the total CO2 emissions. Low High

Conclusion By examining the other maps, it is evident CO2 emissions have an impact on the increase of global temperature. According to the NOAA National Climate Data Center, the past twenty-five years have shown a significant growth in annual temperature change. Though there have been spikes in temperatures prior to 1980, the annual average temperature shows a somewhat increasing linear pattern. Thus, to solve the global temperature anomaly, all countries need to make a global effort to prevent the annual temperature from increasing even more. Alongside average temperature increases, more extreme weather patterns could result in climate change including more intense hurricanes and higher sea levels.
